I stand,
As the continuous stream of water flows by,
And gallops of wind slap my face as they fly,
I stand,
undaunted, untamed, rigidly unmoved,
all fear of erosion from my heart removed,
clouded by the vision of perfection, I brood.
People tell me,
these are the winds of change that blow,
these are the waters afresh that flow,
ride them, for they will help you as they go.
And then there are others,
Who contradictorily claim,
Only dead fish flow along the stream,
Only fallen leaves fly away with the breeze.
I stand,
having heard both sides of the rift,
torn in a Herculean mental conflict,
whether to move ahead or go with the drift.
I make up my mind not to move an inch,
in neither direction do I make a twitch.
I stand, regardless of the opinions and views,
I stand, indifferent of all conflicting hues.
I neither ride nor fully resist,
I neither move nor let be moved,
I feel heroic, as I stand and bear.
But now I know,
I stand, and that is my biggest err.

Hello Bharat, love. Very good attempt. Yopu expressed fully yourself in this poem. I realise turmoil and conflict of your mental thoughts. I appreciate your expression. You have a good command over language to express yourself.

Hello Bharat, love. I my previous comment spelling of you is wrong. Please ignore it. From where you acquire such a quality of expression. Really you fully expressed your mood. But it is not err to stand for some time. After watching real situation go ahead.

thank u dadima, for your comment!
and as for what u said about standing still, here standing signifies turning a cold shoulder to all advices and opinions about the world given by one's peers and elders.
one hand, the narrator of the poem is told by people to let destiny bind his actions and accept life as it is. on the other hand, however, his near and dear ones tell him to hold, take control, and act.
under these circumstances, the narrator takes the easy way our and disregards all advice, simply ignoring them and does nothing. this action is his biggest mistake.
Hey Bharat,
very thoughtful poem.I guess you may be experiencing this in your life as well.I would say such conflicts and turmoils become more complex as you mature and step into different stages of life.
A great attempt !
great one!!didnt expect such deep thoughts ..u r very right...at times we are so confused on what to do and end up doing nothing!!!but hey standing still against the flow also takes some effort...its not that easy not doing something when everyone tells u how beneficial it will be...
great structure and metre........comparing this to your first poem you have come a long way
although the whole poem is very good....there is one line i felt was pure genius.......'i feel heroic,as i stand and bear', a few words simultaneously express your outlook of the dilemma you are facing as well as the purpoted falsity of it.
may i also ask which poet you are influenced by.i fell your style is quite similar to thomas gray.not in it's entirety of course but in several places.....ciao
well, honestly speaking, i have read very less of english poets, except of course the most famous ones like william blake and robert frost. so i guess, i'm just too much of an amateur to even have a particular source of inspiration.
g8 poem bharat!!just njoy life yaar.tu sirf apne dil ki sun . tab sab sahi hoga.choti-moti problems se dar mat. kyunki unke bina jine ka koi maza hi nahi hai..
