i need help

my roommate and his sleeping girlfriend
on the mattress next to mine
their flesh melting and mixing into one another.
frozen in awkward embrace, hairy skin exchanging sweat all night

their legs in prosaic repose,
one over the other,
his arms resting heavily on hers,
dead weight under the moonlight.

her sports bra-top barely sheathing her shapely waist,
his black vest wet with perspiration
stiller than the midnight air, silent except her snores,
they might as well be dead.

like unwitting sources of vicarious fantasies,
their bodies bundle and tighten in rigor mortis,
are they asleep afterall,
or dead as in my head?
